I had a friend who used to work for Caterpillar and he said the cylinder heads for these gensets are all individual and that the head studs are so large that they can't torque them. The way that they "torque" them (really they just need preload on the stud) is with a machine that comes in and pulls the stud to the required tension, then they screw the nuts down to finger tight, then release the stud.

It blew my mind when he described it to me but it makes complete sense and probably has more consistent clamp load than torquing a nut.
